Oxford Health Plan/United Healthcare Insurance Update

Those physicians who currently participate with Oxford Health Plan, United Healthcare or both should have received a letter recently advising you of changes in the Oxford contract due to their recent merger. These changes include the requirement to accept participation in both plans if you are currently only in one and a suggestion that the fee schedules for both plans will be consolidated into a single fee schedule (usually the lower).

We suggest that you evaluate your individual options very carefully before making the decision to accept these unilateral changes to your contracts. You have thirty (30) days to refuse to accept the changes in the contract and to notify the carriers, in writing, of your decision. Please feel free to contact Michael Lewis, Director of Healthcare Consulting at 732-349-6880 ext. 147 or mlewis@cowangunteski.com, if you need assistance in determining how these changes may affect your practice.
