Virginia Peterson joined Cowan, Gunteski & Co., P.A. as a manager in the Tax Services Group when Woolston, Koerner & Co., LLC merged with the firm in 2009. As an accounting professional for more than 25 years, Ms. Peterson has developed a broad range of knowledge encompassing aspects of tax law, compliance, planning and research; estate and retirement planning; investment planning; and executive financial counseling. Through her public and private accounting experience, she has developed an expertise that has proved invaluable to clients when navigating the increasing complexity of both Internal Revenue Service and state tax laws and rulings.

Her comprehensive tax background includes reviewing, researching and planning for individual, partnership, corporate, estate, trust and gift tax returns; responding to and resolving tax notices for clients and providing representation before the IRS; managing staff, tax preparation assignments and procedures; and serving as an advisor to team members on tax regulations and updates. She has also presented seminars to various public audiences regarding tax law changes.

Ms. Peterson is an Enrolled Agent licensed to practice before the IRS and is a member of the National Society of Accountants. She has also earned the nationally recognized credentials of Accredited Tax Advisor® and Accredited Tax Preparer® from the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation.
